Greetings,
Well, I have had success!!!! Here is what happened with a little background.
The general consensus was to use POP or IMAP which originally was not thought
possible. One person recommended fetchmail which looked interesting. Sorry
for the length of the summary but it has been a long day too!

1. Downloaded M$ Outlook Express for Solaris and tried to configure using
IMAP.

2. I have been told that M$ Exchange server 5.0 (our "current" version)
is not IMAP compliant. I have verified this on the M$ website.

3. Requesting an upgrade to M$ Exchange 5.5, which is IMAP compliant was
not an option (if it ain't broke, why fix it? was the reply).

4. Have requested for a long time that the Exchange server be configured
for POP. Was told that it would be a hassle??????

5. I said, what the heck. I TOOK A SHOT AND SET THE CLIENT TO USE POP OFF
OF THE EXCHANGE SERVER.

6. I then received a flood of mail from a test account that I had set up
on the Exchange server.

7. Unbeknownst to myself or anyone else in MIS, the Exchange server had
been configured for POP all along! I had just assumed that it had not because
of the resistence I had received to the request. The person who had originally
set up the Exchange server (an intelligent individual, whom I enjoyed working
with) apparently had the foresight to configure POP. Unfortunately, he
didn't tell anyone. He has not been with the company for a number of years.

8. Dropped M$ Outlook Express like a hot brick, configured Netscape for
POP and I am one happy camper!!

Original post:

I've looked and looked but came up empty. Does anyone know of a client
software (shareware or otherwise) that will connect Solaris to MS Exchange
server 5.0. I've tried Outlook Express for Solaris but it appears that
Exchange Server 5.0 is not IMAP compliant. I'm desperate as I am currently
running Groupwise on Solaris which works great but our MIS wants to shut
down the Novell server. I can't configure any other mail as the "corporate
standard" has become Exchange. TIA
