Hi everyone:

The answer is yes this can be done, doing the following:

1. Make sure the drive is configured to take the place of
the riginal one (i.e. master w/slave)
2. After the mem check hit STOP-A
3. With your OS cdrom in the drive type boot cdrom at the
OK prompt

P.S. and unlike me make sure you didn't loosen the cdrom
cable whilst installing the new drive...

Thanks to everyone who helped me out with this!

Your mouse has moved.
Windows NT must be restarted for the change to take effect.
Reboot now? [ OK ]
