Summary: VxVM problems

Thank you to all of you who responded. What the problem appears to have
ended up being was a misconfiguration of some striped volumes.

We have eight disks that are each broken down into 32 subdisks. With the
256 subdisks we create 32 8-column striped plexes (i.e. a subdisk from each
disk for each plex). Each plex is associated to a volume.

It seems that Volume Manager wants the size of the subdisk to be a multiple
of the width of the stripe (I could NOT find this documented anywhere).
Otherwise, Volume Manager seems to create volumes that overlap each other.
The clue that led us to this conclusion is that the size of the plex (and
volume) is larger than the sum of the size of the eight subdisks.

Is there anyone else out there who has experienced the same problem and can
confirm that this is a requirement by Volume Manager? We have another system
that we configured similary, but hasn't crashed yet. However, I'm guessing
that maybe it's because the part of the disk that's overlapped hasn't been
used yet.

Thanks, Steven.
