HI sunners,

Thanks to the following persons for their answers:

Mark Sherman <marksh@funb.com>
Shriman Gurung <SG@datcon.co.uk>
khaled <khaledt@sts.com.jo>
Bismark Espinoza <bismark@alta.jpl.nasa.gov>

The response is :

To disable rdiscd running, just make a file /etc/notrouter and it won't start.

In my case must i leave rdiscd running ?
>From Shriman Gurung, Generally speaking you __don't__ want these to run
when you have a dial-up interface, because you don't want them wasting
precious bandwidth on the link.

Yes it is wat i am going to do and test the network.

Thanks again to all

Best regards

HI sunners,

Configuration :
Server SUN Ultra 10 with solaris 2.6 and the latest jumbo patch.

I have messages at boot with are :
"machine is a router" and then
"in.rdiscd[120]:setsockopt(IP_ADD_MEMBER_SHIP): address already in use",
the rest of the boot is correct.
My server has ppp configured (asppp.cf) in this case, and there is no file
/etc/defaultrouter. On the server, qpopper is running and ppp is used to
exchange mail with the internet gateway.
###### file asppp.cf
ifconfig ipdptp1 plumb 200.197.126.72 192.9.200.1 up
path
        interface ipdptp1
#########

If i rename asppp.cf and reboot the previous messages did not appear (i
have only one interface in this case). But i can't receive messages from
the internet gateway.

My questions are :
how can i disable the error message of in.rdiscd ?
Must i leave rdiscd running ?

Thanks for any help, advice...
