Thanks to everybody who answered to me.

Finally, the special switch doesn't let the sun reboot.

Here's the answers I've received.

rangern@CIRANO.UMontreal.CA (Normand Ranger)

Check to make sure that "diag-switch?" is false.

Your on board battery may be dead.... I think there is a web site out
there
that talks about how to replace it. BTW, on way to test your battery is
to
set another open prom setting and cold cycle the machine, see if you
also
loose that setting. If you do, the it's the battery.

Michael Sullivan <mike@trdlnk.com>
It is a design limitation of the SPARCstation 4's power supply,
due to the power switch not physically staying in the ON position.

There's not much you can do about it, short of building an external
device to press the power switch or power button on the keyboard
at the appropriate time.

bismark@alta.Jpl.Nasa.Gov (Bismark Espinoza)
Do a "man eeprom". Set variables like
"boot-device" and "boot-from" .

ravi@axes-mach01.dsccc.com
Try to change the NVRAM. and check it out.

when u switch on again what does auto-boot variable contenets.

R reprogram the NVRAM and try it

Dan Pritts <danno@ans.net>
yes, it's well known. The only solution is to buy a different
machine; the ss4 power supply does not support what you want to do.

a UPS is a decent workaround, but certainly is dependent on the time of
the power loss.

Ronald Loftin <reloftin@mailbox.syr.edu>

Yes. No.

Sorry, but you hit the jackpot. We have the same problem here, and Sun
seems to have no way to correct it other than replace the offending
boxes
with something other than a Sparc-4.
