MY NOTE:

The best answer was from Glenn Satchell. He hit the old nail on the head. We are going to bridge. Thanks to all responders.

HIS ANSWER:

No there's no special way to throttle the ethernet drivers. A company
who's motto is 'the network is the computer' would want to have pretty
fast network drivers :-)

My guess is that you have a bunch of PC's running Novell Netware,
right? Typically the PC's can't get in fast enough on the wire to
transmit and connections to the servers break down and timeout. The
best solution is to separate the different protocols (IP, IPX) onto
different subnets.

You could try installing a bridge to isolate the SUns from the rest of
the thinnet, but that might just end up killing the bridge. Perhaps a
separate subnet for the suns to isolate their traffic or you could go
for an ethernet switch and put the Suns on that.
