Dear Sunners,

sorry for the late summary ....

Question:
> I want to grep through log-files, search for patterns
>and generate SMNP traps if an event matches a pattern.
>This should be done periodically in a cron-job.

Answers came from a lot of people (as usual :-)). Thanks to:

There are 3 solutions:

1. Scotty

>
>it is an extension to the tcl language to add a lot of network stuff,
>you can use the tcl part for log parsing and scotty for handling
>the snmp part

2. CMU's snmpd
> CMU's snmpd
I found information at http://ermis.cc.duth.gr/InfoBase/noc/cmu_snmp.txt

3. UCD-SNMP package
