Original question:
Sun gurus,
> I am trying to remote mount a filesystem using:
> mount remotesys:/xxx /xxx
> returns error message:
> nfs mount: RPC: program not registered
> nfs mount: retrying /xxx
> both machines are running solaris 2.5.1 with recommended patch cluster

> any ideas on how to solve this problem?

The solution:
the Daemons needed for this service were not running, they are :
/usr/lib/nfs/nfsd and /usr/lib/nfs/mountd
these are started automatically at system boot if there is an entry in the /etc/dfs/dfstab.
If you share a filesystem later on you can start these daemons with:
/etc/init.d/nfs.server start or reboot the system after adding the entry in the /etc/dfs/dfstab.
Many thanks for such a quick response
