Subject: mtools and Solaris

Hi all,

I am trying to use mtools 3.6 to read and write to a DOS formatted
Zip disk under Solaris 2.5.1. The problem is mtools will only work
when I am root. If I attempt to eject the zip disk as myself I get:

{clg} dyz: ./mzip -e z:
scsi_io: Not owner
stop motor: : Not owner

After reading ALL about mtools and trying a chmod 4755 I still cannot
run it as myself.

Anyone have any ideas?

Turns out I totally disregarded the last paragraph in the scsi variable
description at:

which states:

Moreover, root privileges are only used for drives described in a
system-wide configuration file such as `/usr/local/etc/mtools.conf', and
not for those described in `~/.mtoolsrc' or `$MTOOLSRC'.
I was trying to get it to work with my ~/.mtoolsrc file which cannot be
done. I also didn't do a full install- just played around with the
executable where it was built.
