SUMMARY: Restricting number of individual user logins.

ORIGINAL QUESTION:

We've been having a problem with individual users logging into our
financials database system multiple times. This essentially causes this
system (with 3 GB of RAM) to start swapping around end/beginning of the
month.

My question: is there any way to restrict the number of times a user can
login?

There is the possibility of a script, but I want to avoid that.

Will summarize.

Thanks to all who responded.

The overriding suggestion was to try "idled", which is located at

        http://www.dimensionx.com/people/crider/idled/

which supports limiting the total number of logins, or the total number
of logins per user.
