Summary of responses:

Many people replied that they were using Livingston PM's of different
varities and were quite happy with them:

Lots of folks also liked the Cisco machines:

There were also some recommendations for Xylogix machines.

In the end, we decided to go for a totally different machine for a couple
of reasons.

1) the Livingston had much more functionality than what we needed
2) The cisco boxes seemed to be designed for routing/terminal serving and
   we already have the router
3) both of the above were really overkill for what we needed and we
thought we could get into a solution for less than $2500

In the end, we chose a Digi PortServer/8 which a local vendor was able to
deliver in a day and we were able to get it configured and up on the net
in a couple of hours. Just a nice simple machine for our nice simple
problem :) The fact that we were able to get it for about $1000 was also a
bonus.
