My original question was:
are there any commands or freeware utils that give machine info such as 1)
number of processors 2) processor type and speed. Also, where can I find
statistics for speed comparing different models (Sparc 20 with 60 Mhz proc
versus Sparc 5 with 85 Mhz proc), Is there a web site with this info?
I got numerous responses, most stating dmesg, psrinfo -v, prtconf and
program called sysinfo. for the stats I got the SPEC website www.spec.com.
I also got many shell scripts that gather and presented data and will
happily distribute them at request. Thanks to all who responded.
