Original Question:

        SYSTEM: Sparc 5 running 4.1.3_U1

Problem: When playing audio files in the audiotool program an error meesges occurs. ERROR - /dev/audio: no such device - This device is out there but audiotool doesn't seem to notice it. On some systems like the SS10 I have, audiotool works fine. Is there something I missed during installation or a patch required for this.

You need to install a patc "ms2". If you have a document
"Solaris 1.1.1 Version B Late-Breaking News" (Part No: 801-5129-11
then you will find all the info there. The patch is in patch zone on
your CD. This patch will reconfigure your kernnel so safe your previous
one. Here is the short summary how to run this patch:
1. Insert the Solaris 1.1.1 V.B CD into the drive.
2. unmount the CD if it is mounted (umount /dev/sr0)
3. run "/usr/etc/extract_patch -pms2
