I've seen dump command used with both raw device (e.g. /dev/rsd0a)
and 'plain' device (e.g. /dev/sd0a).
Which one is correct?
or
Do they both accomplish the same object?

Answer
Although raw device name (e.g. /dev/rsd0a) should be used, both dump
and ufsdump are smart enough to figure out the raw device name given
the block device name (e.g. /dev/sd0a).
Most of the people also suggested ( and I agree ) to use the mount
point of the filesystem (e.g. /usr /home) with the dump command and
let the system figure out the device name from fstab/vfstab.
