Hi,

This is my original query:

>>
I have a IPX with 32 MB of memory running sunos 4.1.1revB.
This machine crashes several times a day. So far I have
no idea about what might be causing this.

The lines in the /var/adm/messages just before the crash
 are these:

.... (omitted)
>>

As it turned out, the problem was with the cable connecting
the keyboard to the workstation box. The person who solved
the problem (indirectly) was the computer operator. She said
that whenever she put the keyboard on her lap to work the machine
crashed. We just connected the cable firmly on the slot and the
machine stopped crashing.
Anyway, it was very instructive for us. I could never imagine
that a loose cable could crash a Sun workstation.

I would like to thank

Thomas White
Colin Melville
Jens Fischer
Guy Freeman
Marcel Chukwunenye

who were very kind to spend part of their time to reply to my query.
