The problem posted was repeated SCSI "reset" errors in my SS-2 with Seagate
2.1GB HD, newly installed, after failure of two smaller HDs.

for helpful letters, suggesting some of the usual suspects
(bad cables, power supply too weak for the larger HD)
... the machine was sent for service, and it was discovered that the SCSI
chip itself was at fault. The problem was resolved with minimal expense,
and all is well.
