Hi Sun Managers,

My original post concerning the nice value in Solaris 2.4 is

>value (-19 - +19) using /usr/ucb/renice or top (which in fact using

Here comes the answers:

I have received 3 replies all of them said that the nice/renice is
broken under Solaris 2.4 and has no effect on the scheduling priority
even the user can change the value.

My real experience:

I have seen a SPARC 20 with one background job (not a NFS server,
it's a pure user machine) and the load average is 3 because the
nice value of the background job is set to -19 !!

Anyway, thanks for all the replies and sorry for making summary so late.
BTW, the problem has been fixed in Solaris 2.5.

Regards,
