Sorry to trouble the list with this one. I had no responses which was
probably what I deserved since it turned out that my problem was, you
guessed it, a

                        BAD SCSI CABLE

My original question was:

>I'm trying to set up a WangDAT3400DX drive on a Solaris 2 machine.
>The relevant lines I put in my `/kernel/drv/st.conf' file are:
> "WangDAT Model 3400DX ","WangDAT 4mm DAT", "DAT2",
>DAT2 = 1,0x34,0,0xd639,4,0x00,0x8c,0x8c,0x8c,1
>This is my best guess based on my SunOS 4.1.3 setup but I'd appreciate
>anyone letting me know where I can find definitive info. I can't see
>any WangDAT info on the net and our suppliers are unhelpful.
>Anyway, during reboot I get a bunch of messages:
>Jul 4 16:05:01 host unix: WARNING: /iommu@f,e0000000/sbus@f,e0001000/espdma@f,400000/esp@f,800000 (esp0):

>variety of SCSI connector types are involved :-(.
