I think I wasn't clear when I ask the above question. I got a lot of
replies. All of them mentioned the .rhosts and hosts.equiv files. I
don't have an hosts.equiv in any of my machines (neither SunOS nor
Solaris). I do have a .rhosts file in my home directory only. With it I
can rsh to a SunOS machine password-free. However, if I rsh to a Solaris
machine, it always ask me for my passwd. I added the /etc/hosts.equiv
file to one of my Solaris machine (just for testing purposes), but rsh
still ask me for my passwd. Any idea? Does Solaris have a switch that
turn rsh passwd-free off?
Here are my .rhosts and hosts.equiv files:
mysun: <-----my machine name (also running solaris 2.4)
~/.rhosts <-----the .rhostsfile
mysun <-----what I have in the file
myothersun: <-----the solaris 2.4 machine where I want to rsh
/etc/hosts.equiv <-----the hosts.equiv file
mysun myname <-----what I have in the hosts.equiv
