I am very happy to see this problem fixed by adding '*seColorObj: False'
on the Sun's .Xdefaults file. E

Here I would like to thank the following

Subject: 6.6 How come my HP X/Motif clients take a LONG time to display on a Su
n?

The problem is with the OW3 server. You can request OW3 patch 100444-35 (or
whatever is the current replacement) from Sun to fix the problem. Supposedlythis has
been rolled into OW 3.0.1. A workaround is to set the X resource
*useColorObj: False on the Sun.

Hope this helps,
frank

Lufan, I've had problems in displaying HP windows to OpenWindows when
dealing with color. Here is an entry from my .Xdefaults file that clears
up the problem.

I just sent off en email to you. Here's the patch number for OpenWindows 3.0
/SunOS 4.1.x: 100444-66

I don't have an ftp-site for you, because I just got mine from our local
Sun dealer on a diskette.

I have tried out the patch and it will solve your problems opening X-clients
under OpenWindows 3.0.

We had the same type of problem. If I remember correctly from when I
investigated the problem a year ago, I tried to trace the session using a
SNIFFER and saw that the HP was expecting a XWIN reply which for some
reason the Sun wouldn't send. After the timeout, the HP would then go
ahead and open the window anyway. Waiting for the timeout is what makes it
take so long.
