On a Sparc2 cpu, the simms go in staggered as per the following:

bank3 byte2 bank3 byte1
bank2 byte2 bank2 byte1
bank1 byte2 bank1 byte1 <-- SIMM Sockets
bank0 byte2 bank0 byte1
bank3 byte3 bank3 byte0
bank2 byte3 bank2 byte0
bank1 byte3 bank1 byte0
bank0 byte3 bank0 byte0
             |
             | to connectors
             \/

All 4 bytes of each bank must be filled, starting with bank 0.
With 4 4mb simms and 4 1mb simms, put the 4mb simms in bank 0,
and the 1mb simms in bank 1. Only bank 0 needs to be filled for
the machine to work. If you put more memory in, fill the banks
in order.
