The consensus of most respondants was that the 'Ethernet jammed' message
could be caused by:

(1) Loose drop cable to the Sun

(2) Congestion on the network

(3) A bad transceiver

(4) Electrical noise being picked up on the Ethernet cable

(5) Termination problems on the Thick Ethernet

Even though none of the other machines on the thicknet segment (20 +)
reported the same error, I think my problem was caused by the terminator
on one end of the thicknet. There had been a minor leak in the roof next
to the terminator on Thursday Afternoon, and I checked the terminator this
morning and it was slightly loose. So I hope this was a one off thing.
