The solution was "b sd(0,30,1)" at the halt prompt ">" .
Well, I don't understand why it didn't work the first 3 times I tried it.
I just tried it a fourth time out of desperation (upon the advice of a
coworker, Greg White, who's real smart Sun-wise. I did do a "k2" at the ">"
prompt beforehand, but I did the original "b sd(0,30,1)" right after I halted
the system, so it should have been just as "clean" as a "> k2".
Another anomaly was that during the suninstall process (either after formating
disk 2 or after the "installation complete" message,
suninstall started rebooting the system off something like id(0,8,1).
I not sure about the other numbers, but the "8" was there. Then it gave an
error message like "id: tolerable boot probe per id controller is limited to
range unit = 0-2" . That makes sense since I only have 3 disks: id000,
id001, id002 . Anyway, I replaced the "8" with a "2" and was able to
continue. But it bothered me that Suninstall came up with the "8" somehow,
which was incorrect.

Have you tried "b sr(0,0,0)"? I don't personally have a cdrom, but this
is the syntax for the PROM monitor to boot from a device I believe.

Did you look inside of the "lyric book" which came with the CD? If so,
you would have seen:
