ORIGINAL POSTING:

>Does anyone know if SunOS 4.1.2 contains a driver for the 1.6GB (before
>format) Seagate Wren 8 SCSI external drives?

SUMMARY:

I apologize for my own boneheaded error in the Subject line (4.1.1 was
specified instead of what I intended, 4.1.2). Please *do* forgive.
Despite this, the replies answered my question: Yes, it is possible to
format a Seagate Wren 8 drive under 4.1.2 (although Sun's position is: use
third party at your own peril).

The Sun 1.3GB entry in /etc/format.dat entry (under 4.1.2) can be used for
1.6GB raw (1.2GB formatted).

>disk_type = "SUN1.3G" \
> : ctlr = SCSI : fmt_time = 4 \
> : trks_zone = 17 : asect = 6 : atrks = 17 \
> : ncyl = 1965 : acyl = 2 : pcyl = 3500 : nhead = 17 : nsect = 80 \
> : rpm = 5400 : bpt = 448

or this entry for the Seagate:

>disk_type = "Seagate WREN VIII ST41650N" \
> : ctlr = MD21 \
> : trks_zone = 15 : asect = 3 \
> : ncyl = 2069 : acyl = 2 : pcyl = 2071 : nhead = 15 : nsect = 88 \
> : rpm = 3600 : bpt = 45568

For their kindness and expertise, I would like to thank:
