SUMMARY: cleaning DAT tape heads

My original query was on how to clean DAT tape heads.

The general consensus seemed to be

1) DONT use audio DAT cleaning tapes, use one specifically
designed for digital DATs, eg Sony DG5CL cleaning cassette.
2) If you're using the right tapes, then the drive should
automatically chew up the tape and spit it out after a few
3) If this doesnt happen, a couple of people suggested something
like mt -f /dev/rst0 retension, or anything that causes the DAT
to attempt to read/write the tape.

Thanx 2
